Common questions
Before you send artwork.
What file format do you accept?
Only PDF. Fonts must be embedded or outlined, and the smallest type we can hold is 6 pt.
What image resolution do I need?
The minimum is 28 lines per mm. We recommend 300 DPI, which gives the press room to hold detail in the darker areas.
Which colour profile should I work in?
The IFRA newspaper standard, ISOnewspaper26v4. If you cannot load it and you are on Adobe Cloud, choose Fogra 39. On older Adobe products, select Europe Prepress 3. Images are preferred in Adobe RGB or sRGB, and CMYK is accepted if it carries the ISOnewspaper profile.
Can I use spot colours?
No. We also cannot print overprinting white tints or 4 colour black, so please build those out of the file before you send it.
How do I send you large files?
By FTP, and we will give you the details, or through Dropbox or BTSync. Email works only if the single file is under 10 MB.
What sizes do you print?
Tabloid at 265 x 390 mm, broadsheet at 390 x 540 mm, and quarter fold or booklet at 160 x 240 mm.
